Pit Depth Gauge

The Pit Depth Gauge will allow the peak to valley height of corroded surface or blast cleaned surfaces to be accurately measured. The Pit Depth Gauge is initially set to zero with the glass zero plate and the foot is then placed on the corroded profile. The foot sits on top of the peaks and the sharp stylus travels to the bottom of the valley, allowing the gauge to display the peak to valley height. A number of measurements can be made and the average can be taken. In addition, the Pit Depth Gauge can also be used to measure the effects of corrosion i.e. pitting and cavity depth etc. Supplied in carrying case with glass plate for zero setting and battery fitted. Digital Pit Gauge can be used with measurement resolution of 1 micron and precision measurements are possible even at critical locations. The instrument is supplied with calibration certificate traceable to National Standards from reputed laboratory as per ISO 9001:2000 norms.

Getting accurate pit depths and corrosion profiles can sometimes be a problem. Measuring on rounded surfaces or upside down could yield unreliable results. The digital pit depth gauge with bridge is designed for easy use, accuracy, and repeatability. Now available with a choice of bridging bars for different applications corrosion profiles can be plotted quickly and accurately by moving the probe and indicator along the bridging bar. Notched feet prevent the bridge from rocking on a rounded surface. The left-handed scale measures increasing depth as the tip drops into the pit. A locking adjustment screw allows instant calibration to a reference surface. Thumbscrews facilitate one-handed operation. The digital pit depth gauge with bridge with a 4" bridging bar is currently used heavily by oil, gas and water pipeline inspection companies to determine pipe integrity. Emt developed this pit gauge with engineers at a major oil and gas company. It is the foremost accurate tool for pipeline inspection. Ease of use and extreme accuracy make this a necessary tool for any pipeline inspection system.
